This is Kina (kEEee-nuh; trail the e), a former country girl who was moved as a refugee to the city a few years ago. Feeling a fierce patriotic pride she joined the female division of the military. It was discovered she had the Talent (magic), and she she studied control above all else. She mastered her Talent's control and was so moved to command her own troops, all of which held the Talent in some small way. She isn't that great of a leader, as she prefers to do things on her own (she gets impatient), but she does her best.

Although she's wildly curious about everything her senses absorb, you'll never meet anyone who can focus half so hard as Kina can. Once she discovers something that really grabs her attention she'll devote all her energy to it. It's almost gotten her killed more than once, and it's become a bit of a joke ("And don't pull a Kina!"). But she just grins and laughs with them, because she knows how she can get.

When she's curious, though, beware: she'll be more annoying than a gnat. She'll be constantly around, hovering, asking questions, pestering until you finally give in just to get her to shut up.
